EEEEEeee, EEEeeeee, FFFFFFFFFFfffffffff, khoooooo eahhh, (AKA: County roads EE, F, Q and A). These, my readers, are the county roads surrounding us right now in Wisconsin. Door County, Wisconsin. Full of custard shops, vintage pizza with the proudest owner who has "pizza richer than the stars in Hollywood," little sea saws, Nita's Garden Gate and plenty of great boat launches. Emma and Jes have been sailing the Lake of Michigan these past few days having many grand adventures. From playing Frisbee, to almost dying....or tubing. You don't understand do you...well, let me explain to you. Yesterday, Emma's dad suggested that Emma and Jes do some tubing, so they squeezed into their wet suits and hopped on the two person tube. "This thing doesn't flip, right?" Jes asks. "It can, but it won't because my dad will not do that to us." Emma hints to her dad.
And they are on their way breezing across the glassy water and then it starts to get bumpy. "I feel like I'm getting raped in the butt!" Emma yells. When her dad starts to go faster hitting more bumps, Jes and Emma grip the tube as if their lives depended on it...and their lives did depend on it... all of a sudden the tube hits a wave wrong and Jes and Emma flip off of the tube. And let me also explain another thing, Jes is not the greatest swimmer and has never experienced a wet suit opposed to a life jacket before. So Jes is curled in a ball flying through the air when her hand hits and she keeps going, bumping onto her back and sinking in the water. Losing all sense of what was up and what was down, finally her head comes out of the water and she searches for Emma, and sees her with a determined and fierce look on her face swimming rapidly over to Jes. (Emma knows that Jes cannot swim well) She finally reaches Jes and grabs her flailing arms to keep her from panicking and to remind her to just let the wet suit float. Then Jes tastes blood...a lot of blood and she has no idea what it's coming from, she hears Emma's dad yell, "Jes did you bite your lip" and assumes that she must have taken a chunk from her lip. Her dad folds the ladder down from the boat and Jes climbs out of the water spitting blood every two seconds from the side of the boat. Emma who is still confused from the blow finally gets in the boat. Emma was sick the rest of the day and needed sleep because of her brain splitting headache, while Jes stopped the bleeding from her lip and iced it to keep the swelling down. Overall so far, GREAT VACATION!
